How to get to Wagrain-Kleinarl

Wagrain-Kleinarl is nestles amid the scenic mountains of Salzburg's Pongau region. The valley entrance is about 55 km south of the city of Salzburg. The Kleinarl Valley is about 20 km long and stretches from Wagrain southwards to the Radstädter Tauern.

Wagrain-Kleinarl is located in the middle of the Salzburg mountains in Pongau, in the Salzburger Sportwelt. Wagrain-Kleinarl can be reached in approx. 1 hour from the city of Salzburg along the A 10 Tauern motorway heading towards Villach.

Coming from Germany, you can reach us via the A 8 motorway (Munich - Salzburg) and the border crossing at Walserberg. Then follow the A 10 motorway heading towards Villach.

If you are coming from the east (Vienna/Linz), take the A 1 Westautobahn to Salzburg and continue as described above on the A 10.

If you are coming from the south, take the A 10 heading towards Salzburg. Of course, you can also reach Wagrain-Kleinarl toll-free along main roads, e.g. via the Enns Valley (Ennstal road B 320) or the main road from Salzburg (Salzach Valley main road B 159).

Take motorway exit 66 "Flachau" and follow the main road (Wagrainer Straße B 163) for approx. 10 km to Wagrain-Kleinarl.

Please note the following points when travelling by car:

  • On the motorway in Austria you need a vignette (toll sticker). You can buy these at petrol stations, at border crossings or online from ASFINAG.
  • In winter (1st November to 15th April) winter tyres are compulsory in Austria.
  • Please note when travelling with coaches: The B 163 road from St. Johann im Pongau to Wagrain is closed to vehicles over 16 tonnes.

Route planner

Start your well-deserved holiday in an environmentally friendly way by train. Salzburg's main railway station is only about 1 hour away. This is a border station and has perfect connections to Germany and beyond. Around 40 trains a day run between Salzburg and St. Johann im Pongau.

The nearest international airports are in Salzburg (W. A. Mozart Salzburg Airport SZG, approx. 70 km) and in Munich (Franz Josef Strauß Airport MUC, approx. 240 km).

The airport in Salzburg is the second largest in Austria and has a very good non-stop flight schedule from numerous European cities.
