Sustainability in Wagrain-Kleinarl

Working together for a sustainable Wagrain-Kleinarl

Sustainability is increasingly taking centre stage at the Wagrain-Kleinarl Tourist Board. Therefore, in the coming months, the tourism region will develop an agenda on the topic of sustainability that has been coordinated with people from the destination.

We want and promote a tourism that does not live from our region, but for and with us. Together we are moving step by step towards a sustainable future.

So that we are all talking about the same thing, we would like to cite the definition of sustainable tourism from the UNWTO:

„Tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment and host communities” (UNWTO)

Sustainability encompasses many areas in our destination. Our sustainability pages will help you understand our sustainable path and make the best choices to spend a conscious holiday in Wagrain-Kleinarl.

Feel free to contact us and write us an email. We are looking forward to it.

Our sustainable promise

Together, step by step, we are working on ourselves so that sustainability is a visible and natural part of (tourist) life in Wagrain-Kleinarl. Many exciting projects and tasks are running in the background.

With our sustainability board, we have developed a sustainability mission statement. Together we have created a sustainability label in Wagrain-Kleinarl, which gives you a well-founded and comprehensible orientation in the area of sustainability (gastronomy, accommodation, products, activities). We are a pilot partner region of the Austrian Eco-label and would like to be the first destination in Austria to be audited with the GSTC (global sustainable tourism council) accredited certification of Green Destinations. Furthermore, we are part of the research project "Quality Tourism in the Alps".
